This Workbook Will Help You…

  • Break a whole-house decluttering project into realistic daily steps instead of trying to tackle everything at once.
  • Identify the clutter hotspots that repeatedly cause frustration and think about what system or storage change could prevent them from returning.
  • Use consistent decision rules for keeping, relocating, donating, recycling, discarding, or setting aside belongings that need a family decision.
  • Get outgoing clutter out of the house by creating donation, recycling, discard, and Family Decision zones before the daily projects begin.
  • Create practical maintenance systems for repeat clutter such as mail, shoes, backpacks, charging cords, laundry, toys, and items that need to go upstairs.
  • Finish with routines for keeping your progress going, including a 10-minute reset, a Family Maintenance Plan, and a 90-day follow-up.

Take a Look Inside

Clear the Clutter combines planning worksheets, assessment pages, room-by-room decluttering projects, family decision tools, reviews, maintenance routines, and follow-up pages.

Here are a few pages from the Full-Color Edition. The Ink-Saver Edition contains the same core workbook content in a printer-friendly black-and-white design.

What's Included in the Clear the Clutter Workbook?

The workbook is organized so that you establish a few simple household rules first, work through 30 focused decluttering projects, and then create routines that help keep clutter from rebuilding.

Get Ready for the 30-Day Reset

Before Day 1, the workbook helps you define what you want from your home and prepare a simple system for making decisions.

This opening section includes:

  • Welcome to Your 30-Day Home Reset
  • How to Use This Workbook
  • Your 30-Day Roadmap
  • My Whole-House Vision
  • Starting Point Assessment
  • What Matters to Our Family?
  • Find the Clutter Hotspots
  • Our Household Decision Rules
  • Set Up Donation & Discard Zones
  • Get Ready to Begin

The Starting Point Assessment asks you to rate areas including the entryway, kitchen, bedrooms, paperwork, laundry, and storage areas, while the Decision Rules page creates a repeatable process for deciding whether an item should stay. The preparation pages also establish donation, recycling, discard, and Family Decision zones before the daily projects begin.

Week One — Shared Spaces

Days 1–7 begin with the parts of the home that families tend to see and use frequently:

Day 1: Entryway
Day 2: Coat Closet or Mudroom
Day 3: Living Room
Day 4: Books, Media & Entertainment
Day 5: Toys & Games
Day 6: Kitchen Counters
Day 7: Pantry

The projects combine practical checklists with prompts about what belongs in the space, what needs another home, what the family actually uses, and what limits could make the area easier to maintain.

The week finishes with a Week One Review that asks you to notice your biggest win, the space that feels most different, the hardest decision, and the system that still needs work.

Week Two — Kitchen, Bath & Bedroom

Days 8–14 continue through:

Day 8: Refrigerator & Freezer
Day 9: Kitchen Cabinets & Drawers
Day 10: Dining Area
Day 11: Bathrooms
Day 12: Linen Storage
Day 13: Primary Bedroom
Day 14: Clothing

These pages go beyond simply removing things. For example, the refrigerator worksheet identifies food to use first and items the household repeatedly overbuys, the linen worksheet asks what quantity is actually enough, and the clothing page uses questions such as whether an item fits, gets worn, and deserves the available closet space.

A Week Two Review provides another checkpoint before moving into family and storage areas.

Week Three — Family & Storage Areas

Days 15–21 focus on areas where clutter can be more personal or less visible:

Day 15: Kids’ Bedrooms
Day 16: Kids’ Clothing
Day 17: Home Office & Paperwork
Day 18: Laundry Area
Day 19: Garage
Day 20: Storage Closets
Day 21: Basement or Attic

The projects include child-accessible storage questions, clothing-size tracking, a paper landing zone, laundry-flow planning, garage zone selection, storage-purpose questions, and category-by-category basement or attic decisions.

The Week Three Review looks at both visible clutter and hidden storage before the workbook moves into its final reset.

Final Reset — Days 22–30

The final nine days move from decluttering individual categories toward maintaining the home as a whole:

Day 22: Sentimental Items
Day 23: Family Decision Day
Day 24: Reset Shared Spaces
Day 25: Get Donations Out
Day 26: Whole-House Sweep
Day 27: Create Maintenance Zones
Day 28: Build a 10-Minute Reset
Day 29: Family Maintenance Plan
Day 30: Final Home Reset

This section addresses several problems that often remain after the easier clutter is gone: sentimental belongings, items nobody wanted to decide alone, donation bags that have not left the house, repeat clutter, and the routines needed to keep shared spaces usable.

Day 30 also reminds you to take your after photos, tying back to the preparation page’s suggestion to photograph the spaces you most want to improve before starting.

Results & My Next 90 Days

The workbook does not end on Day 30.

The final reflection page lets you compare your starting point with where the household is now in six areas:

  • Visible clutter
  • Finding things
  • Shared spaces
  • Storage areas
  • Family resets
  • Overall home stress

You can then identify the biggest difference you notice, the habit that helped most, and the clutter problem you still want to improve.

The final 90-day plan includes continuing the 10-minute reset, emptying donations regularly, reviewing a storage zone each month, revisiting clothing seasonally, reviewing paper weekly, and repeating a whole-house sweep.

How to Use This Workbook

The workbook is designed around 30 daily projects, and following them in order provides a natural progression. However, the workbook specifically encourages families to adapt the pace to fit their circumstances.

For each project:

  1. Read the day’s project.
  2. Choose the amount of time you have — 10, 20, or 30+ minutes.
  3. Sort and decide.
  4. Reset the space.
  5. Record what worked.

On a particularly busy day, completing one drawer, shelf, basket, or surface still counts.

If a day’s project does not apply to your home, use that day to revisit a clutter hotspot, catch up, or work on another space that needs attention. The workbook also provides a Short on Time? option: complete the Starting Point Assessment, Decision Rules, and Donation Zones pages, begin Day 1, and return to the other planning pages later.

Before beginning, take a few quick photos of the spaces you most want to improve. Day 30 includes a reminder to take your after photos so you can see what changed.

Full-Color or Ink-Saver: Which Should I Choose?

Full-Color Edition

Choose the Full-Color Edition if you enjoy the complete designed workbook experience.

It uses the workbook’s sage green, warm cream, muted terracotta, charcoal text, and illustrated household details throughout the planning pages, daily projects, reviews, and final reset.

This edition is a good choice for:

  • Color home printing
  • Digital viewing
  • Visitors who prefer the full visual presentation
  • Keeping the workbook in a binder or household planning folder

Ink-Saver Edition

Choose the Ink-Saver Edition if conserving printer ink is a priority.

It contains the same core workbook information, page order, and activities but uses a highly printer-friendly black-and-white treatment with white backgrounds, thin outlines, unfilled checkboxes, and minimal decorative artwork.

It is not a shortened version of the workbook.

You can choose entirely based on how you prefer to print.

Standard PDF or High Resolution?

Each edition is available in two PDF versions.

Standard PDF — Recommended for Most Users

The Standard PDF is the best starting choice for most visitors.

It offers:

  • A smaller file
  • Faster downloading
  • Easier use on phones and tablets
  • Good print quality for normal home printing
  • The complete workbook

High-Resolution PDF

Choose the High-Resolution PDF when your main priority is maximum print detail.

It has a larger file size but preserves additional detail for visitors who want the sharpest possible printed version.

Not sure which one to choose? Start with the Standard PDF.

Print Only the Pages You Need

You do not have to print all 47 PDF pages at once.

You can print:

  • Only the planning pages you want to complete
  • One day’s project at a time
  • A complete week
  • Selected worksheets that address your biggest clutter problems
  • The review and maintenance pages when you are ready for them

No. Email signup is not required. You can choose the PDF version you want and download it directly.

What size paper should I use?

The workbook is designed for US Letter 8.5 × 11 inch paper.

What is the difference between the Full-Color and Ink-Saver editions?

The workbook content is the same. The Full-Color Edition contains the complete color design, while the Ink-Saver Edition uses a simplified black-and-white presentation intended to reduce printer ink use.

What is the difference between Standard and High Resolution?

The Standard PDF is smaller, downloads faster, and is recommended for most home printing. The High-Resolution PDF is larger and is intended for visitors who want maximum print detail.

Can I print only certain pages?

Yes. You can print a single worksheet, one day’s project, a selected page range, or the entire workbook.

Do I have to complete the 30 days in order?

Not necessarily. Following the order gives you a clear path through the workbook, but the workbook specifically allows you to adapt the pace. If a project does not apply to your home, use that day for a clutter hotspot, catch-up project, or another area that needs attention.

What if I do not have every space listed in the workbook?

Adapt the project to your home. For example, Day 2 covers a Coat Closet or Mudroom, and Day 21 covers a Basement or Attic. The workbook’s own instructions encourage adapting projects when a listed space does not apply.
